Grota Urșilor, or Bear Cave, is a natural attraction located in the Codru-Moma Mountains, near the Moneasa resort in Arad County, Romania. Recently, the cave has undergone expansion and improvements, making it the longest cave in Arad County, now stretching over 150 meters. The local administration has also worked on revitalizing the area, including better access paths and lighting.
The cave is known for its impressive limestone formations and its geological history. The name “Grota Urșilor” comes from the archaeological discoveries of cave bear fossils (Ursus spelaeus) found inside. These bears lived during the Pleistocene era and are believed to have used the cave as a shelter.
